On Dec 17-18, the 4th Polar Cooperation Research Centre (PCRC) International Symposium will be held in Kobe, Japan. The symposium has been organized annually since 2015. This year, the main theme of the symposium is “International Law for Sustainability in Arctic Resource Development: Integrating Economic, Social, Environmental and Scientific Dimensions”. 

The AEC will be represented on the second day of the symposium. Mr. Bruce Harland, AEC’s co-chair of Responsible Resource Development Working Group will deliver a keynote speech during the session 3, “Achieving Sustainability: Economic/Business Dimension”. The speech will be focused on “The Arctic Economic Council: A Resource for Business Development in the Arctic”. In addition, AEC’s focused business areas, activities of 5 Working Groups, AEC membership and AEC’s vision especially freedom of trade in the Arctic will be discussed. 

The event will gather the academic and industrial fields from Asia, Europe and the North America.
