Team Arctic Finland held a seminar April 10th on promoting AEC and Finnish expertise for the Japanese operators and investors in Tokyo, Japan.

Chair of the AEC Maritime Transportation Working Group (MTWG), Mr. Mikko Niini, gave a brief presentation of the AEC to the Japanese maritime and arctic community. The event attracted a local high level audience and close to 100 participants including CEO of Mitsubishi shipyards, and higher managements from shipowners  at the Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and  Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd (MOL). In addition,  several other shipyards including Japan Marine United (JMU), Sanoyas and Oshima,  Japan Ship Machinery and Equipment Association JSMEA and various trading houses were present

JMU reported on their good cooperation and recent order from AEC MTWG member company Fednav and MOL on their recent first Arctic LNG newbuilding for the Yamal regular liquified gas trade.

Additionally, GAIA Consulting Company has produced an AEC info leaflet in Japanese for this purpose and it is available now electronically. AEC hopes this will help Japanese businesses to apply for AEC membership.
