Miners from all over the world gathered in Skellefteå, Sweden on June 12-13 for the conference “Mining Regions and Cities”. The conference was organized by the OECD as a part of the project OECD Mining Regions and Cities Project.

The AEC was represented by Mr. Lance Miller from NANA Regional Corporation, Alaska, USA. Mr. Miller moderated the work shop on “Mineral Development in the Arctic” The transition to the green economy, and increased demand for base metals like copper and zinc were especially highlighted.

The OECD project gathers the regions and cities were mining and exploration industry are conducted to exchange knowledge of leading practices and to develop best practices. The goal is to develop a global platform for mining regions to increase the knowledge, to create more opportunities and to increase the dialogue between the public and the private sector.
