Arctic Economic Council (AEC) is happy to share a video lecture on Sustainable economic development in the Arctic prepared for the 7th Korea Arctic Academy.  The online course was hosted by the Korean Ministry of Oceans & Fisheries and co-organized by the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) and the University of the Arctic (UArctic).

In the first part of the lecture, Mads Qvist Frederiksen, the AEC Director, talks about seven drivers for the development of the Arctic and tells about the latest technological solutions local companies have developed to address climate change.

The second part is devoted to Arctic Investment Protocol and investment climate in the Arctic.  Mr. Frederiksen discusses the main economic sectors in the region, such as bioeconomy, energy sector, battery minerals, maritime navigation, and digital connectivity. In the end, he draws a parallel between the Arctic Region’s sustainable economic development and space exploration.
