On the 7th of October, the Arctic Economic Council (AEC) held its first Digital Annual Meeting.

Before the meeting, AEC members had a chance to see the updates from the AEC Working Groups and annual report presentation about AEC activities. During the meeting, Wilson Center Polar Institute presented the Arctic Infrastructure Inventory Project that will be published soon. The project was presented by Dr. Mike Sfraga, Director of the Global Risk and Resilience Program & Director at the Polar Institute, and Jack Durkee, Program Associate at the Polar Institute & Manager at Arctic Infrastructure Inventory.

After the presentation, the director of the AEC Anu Fredrikson presented the main AEC activities during 2019: transition of the chairmanship from the Finnish business community to the Icelandic business community, AEC collaboration with the Arctic Council, Memorandum of Understanding between the AEC and the Arctic Council. Fredrikson also briefed the membership about the creation of a new structure, AEC expert groups.

Next year, Russian businesses overtake the AEC Chairmanship. On this occasion, Mr. Evgeny Ambrosov presented the preliminary Russian Chairmanship priorities. This presentation was followed by dialogue with AEC members.   

The chairs of the AEC Working Groups also presented updates on their work.
