On December 9-13, the Arctic Partnership Week 2019 will be held in Busan, Korea. The Arctic Partnership Week has been organized annually since 2016. During its existence, the event has focused on Arctic policy, science, technology, shipping, energy and resources. This years theme is Cooperation beyond the Borders.

The Arctic Economic Council will be represented at the 2019 Arctic Partnership week by the Director of the AEC, Ms. Anu Fredrikson. Fredrikson will deliver a keynote speech at the Arctic Policy Conference. The plenary session is titled “Demand for New Arctic Policy and Prospects” and Ms. Fredrikson’s speech will focus on the sustainable economic development of the Arctic.

“I look very much forward to addressing the Arctic Partnership Week and discussing the AEC’s perspective on sustainable economic development of our region with Korean and international stakeholders. Republic of Korea works actively in the Arctic. This is also highlighted in the AEC’s membership: our first non-Arctic member was the Korean Shipowners’ Association and they formally joined the AEC at an event organized in conjunction with the Arctic Partnership Week two years ago”, Ms. Fredrikson says.
