The Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) – in close cooperation with the Arctic Economic Council (AEC) – has financed an “Arctic Business Analysis” with the aim of qualifying the current knowledge on the business environment in the Arctic. The aim of the analysis is to use the knowledge to enable further economic development in the Arctic. An external consultancy consortium, Voluntas Advisory and the Confederation of Danish Industry, was chosen to conduct the Arctic Business Analysis with an overall aim of identifying barriers and enablers that drive and hinder business development in the Arctic as well as uncovering knowledge gaps. The analysis focuses on business development cases that could be scaled to other themes and geographical areas. Thus it represents important practical lessons learned for other companies and to stakeholders aiming at supporting Arctic business development.
The work on the analysis has been ongoing since early 2017, and the Arctic Business Analysis will be presented at the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromsø at a joint side event between AEC and NCM.

The report focuses on the following themes:
• Entrepreneurship & Innovation
• Public Private Partnerships & Business Cooperation
• Cultural and Creative Industries
• Bio-Economy

The side event will present and highlight the key findings of the Arctic Business Analysis. This will form the backdrop for discussions in a business panel. The central question will be how the business community can use these findings moving forward.
