NOVATEK is represented in the AEC by Evgeny Ambrosov, deputy Chairman of the Management Board and Director of Maritime Operations, Shipping and Logistic of NOVATEK. He has been working in the Russian shipping industry since 1979.

Mr. Ambrosov has worked for nearly 30 years in Russia’s Far Eastern Shipping Company, rising from the position of Cargo Officer on board of liner vessels to President & CEO of the FESCO Transportation Group. He held executive position in Sovcomflot. In 2009, he joined the company with responsibility for commercial fleet operations and new business development, including a sophisticated fleet operating in the harsh environments of the Far Eastern and Arctic seas, and for developing the potential of the Northern Sea Route for large tankers’ transits.

NOVATEK is a Russian independent gas producer and one of a top global natural gas companies. Established in 1994, NOVATEK accounts for approximately 80% of Russia’s natural gas production. It explores for and processes natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons, producing 75 billion cubic meters of natural gas each and have 25 years of operational experience in the Russian oil and natural gas sector. It sells natural gas directly throughout the country, as well as internationally through traders. NOVATEK focuses its production on the prolific Yamal-Nenets Autonomous region (YNAO) in Western Siberia. Customers include end customers, and wholesale gas suppliers.

Corporate Social Responsibility Projects in the Arctic
COVID-19 Pandemic

 

In 2020 NOVATEK paid  special attention to boost local epidemic measures in regions by setting up PCR laboratories, purchasing equipment and materials for medical treatment, protective suits for medical personnel, etc.

In 2020, NOVATEK and its subsidiaries directly invested approx. RUB 4.6 billion in charitable projects and activities, cultural and educational programs, and support for indigenous communities, including RUB 671.8 million to assist the regions in their epidemic containment efforts.

Health Territory project

In 2020 in frames of Health Territory project, leading doctors from the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital visited six towns: Tarko-Sale, Novy Urengoy, Kostroma, Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The project allowed 457 severely ill children to get medical help and 97 children were taken to the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital and other medical centers.

Telemedicine in the Arctic

In 2020, the work under the Telemedicine Center project (TMC) to equip and connect hospitals in Novy Urengoy, Tarko-Sale, Murmansk, and Kostroma to the unified telemedical network, was completed. Efforts were made to expand the TMC by connecting hospitals in Chelyabinsk and Tyumen to the Center.

The TMC helped to have 626 video consultations, a series of five lectures on pediatric anesthesiology and intensive care in December 2020, as well as regular online meetings and medical councils with relevant experts of the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital.

As part of the Targeted Therapy project aimed at helping children with cancer undergoing treatment in the Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology, 120 children received help in 2020.

The project to help children with vision impairments has also gained momentum by setting up «Eye health rooms» in specialized kindergartens in Murmansk and Kostroma, where 159 children with visual impairments underwent rehabilitation.

As part of the above projects, the Company also provides financial support for the professional development of local medical specialists, as well as equips local clinics with modern appliances and high-tech equipment.

Supporting indigenous communities in Yamal

In 2020, NOVATEK provided financial support to the Yamal branch of Russian indigenous peoples association.

the company assisted through financing the purchase of snowmobiles, gas-fired boilers and technical facilities and aids for clans, equipment and materials required for the work of fishermen and reindeer herders. A certain type of aid is taking an active part in organizing and staging ethnic festivals of indigenous peoples, promoting the indigenous cultural heritage, as well as providing funding for environmental programs.

Furthermore, NOVATEK also regularly provides financing for activities under the Public Program of Indigenous peoples of the North in Yamal Nenets Autonomous Area, initiated by the Yamal Nenets Autonomous Area Governor based on the proposals from the local population.

NOVATEK supports the local comunities by providing air transportation, delivering groceries, firewood and fuel, providing funding for medical treatment, purchasing equipment and supplies for the fishermen and reindeerherders. NOVATEK provides targeted welfare assistance, hold events aimed at arranging high-quality and affordable cultural life in remote villages.

The Advisory Board on the Yamal LNG Project Development and Implementation is directly involved in  sustainable development of indigenous communities, by improving the quality of life of the local population through the programs for social and economic development taking into account the way of life, culture, and wildlife management.
