Heidar Gudjonsson is Managing Director of Ursus Investments

Mr Gudjonsson has been working in business in the Arctic for the last 20 years. After finishing his economic studies at the University of Iceland business led him to work in New York, London and Zurich, for close to two decades, but always with one foot firmly set in Iceland. Gudjonsson has built hydropower plants in the area, organized the largest acquisition in the fisheries sector in Iceland in the 1990s, building out infrastructure through electricity and water utilities and founding a Norwegian Icelandic oil exploration company.  He is the Chairman of the Icelandic Arctic Chamber of Commerce, is on the Advisory Board of the Arctic Circle and author of the “Arctic Push: Iceland and the Opportunities”. Previously, Gudjonsson was the CEO of Sýn a publicly listed company in Iceland, which is the largest media company and second largest telco in the country. Gudjonsson was a managing partner of Novator, a private investment firm managing €7B in public and private equity based in London, England. He was also a manager of a global macro hedge fund in New York City, and head of trading at Íslandsbanki Reykjavik.
